Overview

Blink now offers Two Factor Application (2FA), allowing Blink employees and our merchants to improve their security on Blink.

This is a merchant-led feature; only merchants you can switch this on for their your business.

Set-up

Internal set-up

You can now set up 2FA for Blink. You can find 2FA in Settings (1)→ Blink staff settings (2) → My account (3).

Set up 2FA for your business, You can enable it for yourself and/or decide to enable it for individual users.

Lead users can reset 2FA for sub-users as well.

Set up 2FA for yourself

You can find the 2FA settings in Payment Operations → User preferences.

Click on Enable 2FA and add your Blink password to confirm.

Open your Microsoft Authenticator an authenticator app on your phone (it works with all general authenticator apps).

(5) Click And click on the plus + sign.

(6) Choose work Work or school account.

(7) Click on scan Scan QR code.

Scan the QR code on your computer screen. Once scanned, fill in the OTP (one-time password) and click confirm.

Note

QR codes, are personal. Don’t let anyone else scan your 2FA QR code as, together with your login details they will be able to log in.

You can find the OTP in your authenticator app.

Once you have activated your 2FA, a recovery code will be generated. This Keep this somewhere safe, it can be used to recover access to the account if your 2FA device is lost.

Disable 2FA from your Blink account

To disable 2FA from your account, simply click on Disable and fill in your Blink password.

Merchant set-up

2FA is a merchant-led feature; only merchants can switch this on. (see guide, to follow)

Logging in

Once 2FA has been added to your account, you will be prompted to authenticate via your authenticator App and fill in the OTP (one-time password) after using your general login details.

Sub user

Are you experiencing issues logging in? Use the recovery code you received while you set up your 2FA. If this does not do the trick, contact the Reach out to support if this doesn’t work.

Sub-user - contact a Blink lead user to reset this for you.

Removing 2FA

Set up 2FA for sub-users

There are a few ways to switch on 2FA for sub-users:

 

 

Switch 2FA on for multiple existing users in one go:

(1) Navigate to Payment Operations → User preferences → Users → 2FA Settings button.

(2) Choose which users they want to enable and click on confirm

Switch on 2FA for individual users:

(1) Navigate to Payment Operations → User preferences → Users → locate individual user → click on edit and toggle on Require 2FA → click Confirm

Set new users up with 2FA immediately:

 

Simply toggle Require 2FA on while setting up a new user.

Reporting on 2FA

In the user's section (Payment Operations → User preferences → Users). Each user who is 2FA required will have this highlighted under the security symbol.

The clock symbol showcases that 2FA has been toggled on for the individual user. However, they have not yet set it up.

Potential issues and how to solve them

Two-factor authentication device is lost

Advise the user to contact the lead or merchant owner, they will be able to reset the 2FA for their sub-users.

InfoWe prefer, that you do not reset this on behalf of the customer, however (when necessary, discuss with Amy) you can do this by impersonating the merchant

Merchants and Leads can reset 2FA for sup-users. Please reach out to your internal Blink administrator.

Due to security reasons, Blink, can reset your 2FA, but not set 2FA up for you initially.
